What makes our dental practice Biological

When you enter the dental office of Dr. Michaela McKenzie, you will notice a different feel. We cater to patients who are really focused on a more holistic and naturally healthy lifestyle. We offer only organic based products and a metal free, and fluoride free array of dental materials.

Dr. McKenzie was the first dentist to bring all-ceramic dental implants to the state of Georgia. The all-ceramic implants come from Switzerland and have been used in Europe for many years. Dr. McKenzie trained under the German dentist – Dr. Ralf Luettmann, the Chief Science Officer (CSO), who went to Switzerland and designed all the prototypes for the Z-Systems, Inc. or Zirkolith Implants.

She was trained to place the implants under Dr. Sammy Noumbissi – one of the pioneers of ceramic implant placement surgery and the founder of the IAOCI – the International Academy of Ceramic Implantology.

All-white ceramic implants are made of zirconia, which makes them very strong and they look beautiful and natural. The reason Dr. McKenzie likes them is that the ceramic is not only white and therefore esthetic, but also the zirconia ceramic is biocompatible with the body.

The threads on the implants are laser micro etched to mimic the topography of natural bone, which allows better integration into the body. Bone grows into them and gum tissue grows over them. The chemical configuration of the Zirconia material creates a self-repair mechanism which makes it highly resistant to cracks and fractures.

In addition, Dr. McKenzie has a 3D Milling machine from Germany in the office that can mill an all ceramic crown while the patient waits. This provides her patients with a beautiful, all-natural ceramic implant and ceramic crown that can be placed in the office.

Michaela McKenzie, DDS is an accredited board member of the International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology, the IAOMT.

Her background in Chemistry and degrees in Biochemistry and German, combined with her research experience at both the University of Arizona Medical Center, and at the Johns Hopkins School of Hygiene and Public Health in Toxicology – make her focus in dentistry one of education and overall health.

Dr. McKenzie calls her practice Dazzling Smiles because she likes to make people not only healthy but also beautiful. Combining beauty and function is a rewarding and joyful experience!
